About the role
Wood is currently seeking an Intermediate/Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Eastern Canada Operations team who will provide engineering support through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and practices in the performance of all electrical discipline design work across our Eastern Canada business.

Plans and prioritizes work to meet client requirements and aligned with organizational goals. With guidance, looks ahead to determine and obtain needed resources to complete projects

Provide engineering expertise to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures

Provide mentoring to discipline team members, helping the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses

Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work

Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals

Prepare and maintain estimates and schedules

Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews, and embedding lessons learned in engineering procedures

Support Operations and Engineering Managers to produce discipline input to engineering execution plans

Assisting to continuously improve design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design execution

Where appropriate, manage projects, maintain and plan cost control, identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process

Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures

Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel, as required

Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required

Ensure Health and Safety and environmental regulations are followed methodically

Travel to client sites for survey, construction and commissioning support

Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university
-
Registered professional engineer with PEGNL
-
7-10+ years of experience in the Power Utility, Mining / Industrial and / or Renewable Energy sectors considered an asset

Experience dealing with contractors for on-site construction support and sound understanding of multi-discipline industrial construction planning

Demonstrable experience in managing electrical scopes of multi-disciplinary projects

Solid knowledge of CSA Standards and Local Codes

Attention to detail and pride in work quality

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong client focus

Resourceful team player with self-starter aptitude

Travel to client sites will be required, therefore candidate must pass a mandatory site-specific drug and alcohol test, as well as provide a clear record of conduct
