Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Deposit Operations, the Service Representative, Deposits plays a key role in supporting the Bank’s Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) deposit activities. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of deposit transactions, reconciliation of funds, and preparation of internal and external reports. The role requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and a commitment to service excellence. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, analytical problem-solving, and the ability to assess and resolve issues independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Process GIC deposit applications received from brokers, ensuring compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) procedures and identifying any anomalies or inconsistencies.
- Reconcile GIC purchases with corresponding cash receipts, investigating discrepancies and applying logical reasoning to resolve issues.
- Perform daily imports of GIC data into the deposit administration system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Process deposit maturities and interest payments, applying a methodical approach to ensure timeliness and precision.
- Execute daily deposit service functions, including early redemptions, transfers, re-registrations, and confirmations, while evaluating each transaction for potential risks or exceptions.
- Communicate with external deposit brokers to resolve inquiries and discrepancies, using effective questioning and decision-making skills.
- Prepare and distribute reports on deposit and treasury positions for internal stakeholders and external parties, interpreting data to support business decisions.
- Participate in special projects and respond to ad hoc requests, applying critical thinking to assess priorities, propose solutions, and contribute to process improvements.
Qualifications & Experience Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
- College diploma in Business, Accounting, or a related field.
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- 1–2 years of relevant experience in deposit operations within the Financial Services industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to assess situations, identify root causes, and make informed decisions.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
