The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Qualifications:
- Pharmacy Technician Diploma from an accredited college required
- Must hold a current RPhT license for active practice with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. required
Skill, Ability and Experience:
- Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
- Previous experience in retail and hospital pharmacy preferred
- Experience with Pharmacy software preferred
-Experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding including both hazardous and non-hazardous - preferred
Principal Duties:
- Collaborating with the Pharmacists
- dispensing medications for all hospital patients across all Bluewater Health sites and Pharmacy Care, the hospital out-patient pharmacy as required
- Compounding sterile preparations for both hazardous and non-hazardous products such as IV admixtures, TPNs and chemotherapy drugs
- Medication order entry of physician orders
- Non-sterile compounding e.g., creams, ointments and oral liquids
- repackaging oral liquids, tablets or capsules as required with automated repackaging equipment
- Restocks medications in Pyxis Automated dispensing cabinets
- Restocking trays for RFID Anesthesia Carts
- Daily Controlled drugs and substance dispensing and inventory control
- Checks the ward stock supply on selected nursing units and replenishes the stock
- Returns unused medication to stock, including billing and crediting medications
- Delivers medication to Nursing Units
- Receiving and barcoding medications
- Replenishes stock and dispenses medications from Swisslog Boxpicker Robot
- Assists with Inventory control
- Interviews patients to complete a best possible medication history (BPMH) as part of the medication reconciliation process
- Participates in department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
- Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
- Acts as a coach, mentor, resource and positive role model for new staff and students
- Other related duties as assigned
