Shift: Rotating, 7.5 hour

Shift Start: Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements.

Position Description

Position Summary Using CMRITO Standards of Practice and Organizational Policies and Procedures, performs a variety of high quality CT/Angio/Interventional/Radiographic procedures at a technical level, with limited supervision. Responsible to maintain competency and follows standards as outlined by the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) is required.
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and the Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences is preferred.
  • Current working CT knowledge with experience and proficiency in a wide range of examinations/procedures is required.
  • Previous Angiography/interventional experience preferred.
  • Has completed Contrast Injection course or will complete the Contrast Injection course and demonstrate ability to perform IV insertion and contrast injection within the 12 months. Previous I.V. skill preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) program, Level II: Basic Rescuer certification.
  • Cross-sectional Anatomy course completed or will complete within 12 months.
  • Excellent problem recognition and problem solving skills.
  • Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to work as an autonomous professional.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work accurately under stressful conditions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education, working towards CAMRT CT certification.
  • Awareness of hospital emergency codes and procedures.
  • Experience and good working knowledge of computer skills.
  • Good attendance and work record is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Performs CT/Angio/Interventional/General Radiography Imaging procedures as outlined in procedure manuals.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and utilizes the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) to view, manipulate and archive digital medical images of data in final image formation.
  • Operates, troubleshoots and ensures medical imaging and ancillary equipment is performing in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Prepares written and electronic reports required to document all procedures and test results.
  • Participates in teaching, training, educational, research, safety and quality improvement programs/activities.
  • Performs other related patient care responsibilities to facilitate the provision of optimal patient care.
  • Understands and observes all applicable legislation and regulations, Hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and applies the mission and values of St. Joseph’s Healthcare.
  • Performs cross-functional responsibilities as assigned or requested and performs other duties related to the job classification as required.
