About the job

As part of the Enterprise-wide I&IT Audit Branch, you'll work closely with central I&IT organizations across the Ontario Public Service and collaborate with sector audit teams on I&IT-related engagements. Your work will have a broad, enterprise-level impact—driving improvements that may lead to policy changes, enhancements to enterprise-wide I&IT strategies and frameworks, adoption of new technologies, or other systemic enhancements that support effective service delivery to Ontario's citizens while safeguarding their data. This role offers exposure to a wide range of I&IT risks and initiatives, ensuring variety and meaningful contributions to Ontario's digital transformation.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • plan and lead complex I&IT audits and consulting engagements
  • evaluate internal controls and processes in areas such as I&IT governance, including data governance and privacy, cybersecurity, IT service management, IT project management and emerging technologies
  • provide expert advice on risk management practices, including industry best practices
  • document assessments, results, and findings, and prepare audit working papers
  • write comprehensive audit reports and present findings and recommendations

What you bring to the team

Technical knowledge and experience

You:

  • have knowledge of generally accepted auditing practices, including risk management and control strategies
  • knowledge and experience working with current and emerging technologies, identifying risks/challenges associated with these technologies and recommending strategies to address them
  • have experience conducting and leading a broad range of complex I&IT audits and consulting engagements, utilizing innovative auditing techniques to assess risks and controls
  • can create clear audit reports and briefings to share results with senior and executive management and audit committees

Communication skills

You are a strong communicator who:

  • excels at building positive relationships, providing expert advice, negotiating effectively, and clearly communicating risk and control issues (through written and oral communication) to both business and IT clients

Analytical and project management skills

You have demonstrated:

  • experience analyzing information to identify issues and recommend solutions, while also finding opportunities for process improvement
  • experience in utilizing data analytics tools (e.g. IDEA, Excel, Tableau and PowerBI) to analyze data, identify risks/trends and support the audit process
  • the ability to lead I&IT audit projects and consulting engagements, adapting to changing priorities, and managing multiple audits within deadlines and budget
