You as a ‘Senior Estimator, Electrical’ will:

  • Analyze and interpret project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work and estimate submission requirements
  • Assemble accurate, timely and well-organized estimates, including pre-construction, construction management, design-build and stipulated sum projects.
  • Participate and lead in quantity take-off of material, labor and equipment for all electrical systems using digital estimating software.
  • Develop detailed electrical estimates, cost breakdowns, scope matrices, estimate criteria, exclusions and clarifications required for submission
  • Oversee prequalification submissions, RFQ’s and RFI’s
  • Participate in documentation reviews and value engineering proposals
  • Organize and lead site walks and pre-bid meetings with subtrades
  • Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure
  • Organize and level sub-contractors’ and suppliers’ quotes
  • When the bid is successful, assist in the buy-out process flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
  • Recognize risks related to project-specific requirements, site, schedule, lead time and market conditions / constraints
  • Assist in site logistics, project schedule and critical path, including milestone dates and completion timelines
  • Assist in analyzing Change Orders and Change Directives costing
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain databases, including labor rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference
  • Compile historical data (purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc.) and compile summary reports to develop guidelines and precedence for future estimates,
  • Participate in developing project updates, bid package and estimating documents
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimating figures
  • Assist in monitoring conceptual estimates with actual cost data
  • Develop less experienced estimators’ skills through teaching, training, and guidance throughout the estimate lifecycle
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction

Is this the right role for you?

  • You have a construction related degree/diploma
  • Eng., PQS, GSC, CET and LEED Accreditations are all assets
  • You have over ten years of a combination of field and estimating experience; design-build experience and proficiency in a variety of general procurement methods.
  • Estimating or field experience Data Centers, Advance Manufacturing and Laboratories are all assets
  • Able to create and modify electrical estimates utilizing Accubid software
  • Working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to create and maintain strong relationships, attention to detail; as well as the ability to work effectively and accurately in time sensitive situations within a team
  • Ability to calculate mathematical extensions, read and understand engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, cost coding systems, etc. is essential
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and contract documents,
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
