Job Summary
The Team The Judicial Administration team provides essential services to both the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, supporting the effective administration of justice. The team consists of 14 professionals who report to the CLEO Chief Legal and Executive Officer and collaborate closely to deliver financial, HR, administrative, and IT services that help ensure the public has access to justice. The group works regularly with the Chief Justices, the Associate Chief Justice, judges, and senior leaders across the Superior Courts Judiciary. Known for its collaborative culture, the team values problem-solving, continuous improvement, and strong working relationships, and members genuinely enjoy working together while accomplishing meaningful work.
The Role The Communications Manager provides senior strategic communications advice to the Chief Justices, the Associate Chief Justice, Judges and other senior leaders, supporting work such as community engagement, reconciliation, and modernization while helping promote and safeguard public confidence in the administration of justice. The role is responsible for leading communications plans and strategies for the Superior Courts Judiciary, managing key deliverables and relationships, and overseeing both internal communications (with employees and the judiciary) and external communications (with the community, executive branch, and media). Reporting to this role is a Communications Coordinator. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence how one of Canada’s most respected institutions engages with the public. By strengthening communication and understanding of the courts, the role directly contributes to maintaining public confidence in the justice system and improving access to justice for court users.
Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements
- Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Journalism, or a related field (e.g., Political Science, Law, Writing, English, or another communications discipline), plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant experience.OR Diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, Journalism, or a related field (e.g., Political Science, Law, Writing, English, or another communications discipline), plus a minimum of seven (7) years of recent, relevant experience.
Related experience may include:
- Developing and implementing a range of strategic communications and leading issues management.
- Managing multiple assignments or projects or leading a component of a significant project that affects many external partners.
- Building partnerships and managing relationships with senior level external partners.
- Experience in transformative change with structured methodologies.
- Leading change processes with diverse groups of partners internal and external to government.
- Directing the work of other employees and/or consultants in the areas of communications, change or engagement.
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with senior leaders and leading organizational change associated with implementation. Experience in preparation of strategic briefing materials for senior officials and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making.
Preferences may be given to applicants with:

Experience with or in a legal environment, courts, judiciary or the broader justice sector.

Experience in journalism or public policy communications.

Experience working in public sector service delivery.

Supervisory experience.
