Job Description
Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. (OSF) is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) that will be responsible for managing the company's financial health and strategic direction. Their responsibilities will include overseeing financial operations, developing financial strategies, managing risk, and ensuring financial compliance. The CFO will play a critical role in guiding financial decisions, analyzing performance, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
Position Requirements

A university degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related discipline; a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) is an asset

Accreditation from provincial or territorial accounting body as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).

10 or more years of experience in leadership positions within a company’s financial department

Exceptional ability to monitor, allocate, and control finances on a large scale
-
Excellent communication, problem solving and analytical skills

Strong work ethic, leadership and managerial skills

In-depth knowledge of finance and accounting

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft applications; Business Central, MS Word, and Excel as well as Power BI

In-depth experience working with or the implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System
-
Ability to present financial analysis and projections to company stakeholders

Proven experience reading complex financial reports and communicating them to stakeholders in easy-to-understand terms

Strong understanding of US GAAP and Canadian GAAP
-
Experience with public company reporting obligations is an asset
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management:
Management of all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.
Strategic Planning:
Development and implementation of financial strategies, including long-term financial planning, risk management, and investment strategies.
Financial Reporting:
Oversight of the preparation and communication of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting to stakeholders, our CEO, Board of Directors and/ or investors.
Risk Management:
Identification and management of financial risks, developing strategies to mitigate potential losses and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Compliance:
Ensuring the company adheres to all relevant financial regulations and reporting requirements.
Investor Relations:
Management of relationships with investors and financial institutions, maintaining transparency and building trust.
Strategic Guidance:
Providing financial expertise and guidance to the executive team and contributing to strategic decision-making and business planning.
Cost Management:
Driving cost management initiatives, identifying areas for operational efficiency, and implementing measures to enhance profitability.
Performance Analysis:
Analyzing the company's financial performance, identifying areas of strength and weakness, and proposing corrective actions.
Team Leadership:
Leading and managing the finance team while providing guidance and mentorship to develop their skills and expertise.

OSF holds a worldwide license on the ability to regulate the expression of polyphenol oxidase (PPO) genes to control enzymatic browning in tree fruits, and we are patent holders of the technology that enables us to do so. By reducing the expression of PPO, OSF is developing tree fruits with inhibited enzymatic browning.
