About The Role
This is apermanent 0.8 FTE position*, approximately four days per week*that offers both meaningful impact and sustainable rhythm.
As a Chaplain, you will offer compassionate spiritual care, helping residents and team members navigate life’s joys and challenges. You will support residents of all faith backgrounds while modeling Christian hospitality and grace through your words, actions, and presence.
You’ll also collaborate closely with the interdisciplinary care team, contributing to holistic wellness across physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Care for Residents and Families:
- Build relationships with residents to support their social, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
- Conduct spiritual assessments and participate in care planning and interdisciplinary meetings.
- Lead or facilitate Christian worship, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, and fellowship opportunities.
- Provide pastoral care, end-of-life support, and guidance during grief, ethical dilemmas, and life transitions.
- Help residents maintain connection to their personal faith communities.
Support for Team Members:
- Foster an inclusive environment that supports personal faith and beliefs.
- Provide spiritual and emotional support to team members as requested.
- Offer guidance and prayer related to ethical or emotional challenges.
Collaboration and Networking:
- Partner with local churches, clergy, and faith leaders to enhance the spiritual care program.
- Recruit, train, and support spiritual care volunteers in partnership with site leaders.
- Represent Baptist Housing’s ministry and values within the community and faith networks.
Administrative and Reporting Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of spiritual care activities, visits, and programs.
- Provide regular reports to the Administrator and Associate Vice President of Spiritual Care.
- Contribute to strategic planning and budgeting for spiritual care programs.
Health and Safety:
- Model safe work practices and support a culture of health, safety, and mutual care.
Requirements
- A graduate degree in Divinity or a related theological degree (e.g., M.A. in Spiritual Care) or a minimum of a Bible or ministry degree from an evangelical Bible school
- Graduation from an accepted Clinical Psychospiritual Education (CPE) course or training in professional chaplaincy is preferred.
- The candidate must affirm and demonstrate that his or her doctrinal position agrees with the Baptist Housing Ministries Statement of Faith.
- Capable of endorsement from the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in BC and Yukon
- Consideration will be given to life experience and personal learning.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada. (i.e., be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have a valid work permit)

Compensation & Benefits
We offer an hourly wage between of $35.00 - $37.00. Your compensation includes employer paid extended health and dental coverage, retirement savings plan contributions, and paid vacation.
