Your Opportunity:
The Rising Sun Long Term Care Centre (LTC) is home to 30 Elderly Residents. Nestled 58kms southwest of Calgary in beautiful Diamond Valley, Alberta. The vibrant Oilfields General Hospital offers an excellent rural nursing opportunity in a unique and diverse Alberta Health Services care facility. The Registered Nurse (RN) in LTC works in a Resident Family Centered Care environment that focuses on meeting the comprehensive and complex care needs of the Residents and their families in a home like setting. The RN will work collaboratively with a variety of disciplines including Health Care Aides, Rehabilitation Staff, Recreation Therapy, Pharmacy and the Physicians group with the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health. The RN provides leadership through assessment, planning, implementation and ongoing evaluation of Resident care. The RN actively engages in health promotion, chronic disease management and enhancing the Residents activities of daily living. The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness as outlined in https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/education/student-aid/grants-loans/repay/assistance/doctors-nurses/amount.html. You may be eligible for the Rural Federal Student Loan Forgiveness Program if you meet other eligibility requirements.
Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $39.58 /hour - $54.16/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management - Chapters 1 - 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0)
Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion and graduation from an accredited Nursing Program required. Current and active CARNA registration required. Current and active BCLS-HCP certification required. Demonstrated Nursing experience in a leadership or charge nurse role required. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as member of a care team. Demonstrated critical thinking, effective decision making and conflict resolution skills. The RN at the Rising Sun requires the ability to tolerate constant walking, standing, kneeling, bending, reaching and sustaining posture within a fast-paced unit requiring lifting, pushing, pulling of objects greater than 50lbs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Long Term Care Nursing Experience. 1-2 years Nursing Experience in an Adult Clinical Care Setting. Experience with the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI). Completion of Supportive Pathways or equivalent dementia care education or experience. Demonstrated education and experience with Palliative Care and wound care.
