We are currently seeking a qualifiedLead Field Specialistto join our RSSOM MainlineInfrastructure team, based out ofToronto, ON.TheLead Field Specialistwill be responsible overseeing the design, construction, and interface management of line‑wide mainline works across the Ontario Line program. This includes, but is not limited to, track works, OCS foundations, emergency walkways, dry fire mains, cableway supports and associated wayside systems.
Acting as the Delivery Partner (DP) field representative, the Lead Field Specialist provides day‑to‑day oversight of contractor activities, ensures alignment between design and construction, manages complex interfaces, and verifies that work is executed safely, compliantly, and in accordance with contract requirements. The Lead Field Specialist reports to the Construction Manager / Project Manager and provides leadership to assigned field specialists.
Bantrel Infrastructure, is a key sub-vendor to Bechtel, have been appointed the Delivery Partner within an integrated team with the customer, Metrolinx, for the Ontario Line Subway (OLS) Project and will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario. The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by two key PPP Contractors and multiple advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors and two large Progressive Design Build Contracts. The scope includes both managing the Works associated with the program and with the individual construction projects.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate mainline construction activities, including track works, emergency walkways, and dry fire main installations.
- Provide field oversight of contractor activities to ensure compliance with technical specifications, contract requirements, safety standards, and ES&H programs.
- Maintain accurate daily field records, including observations, installed quantities, resources, and issues encountered.
- Validate contractor progress reports, quantities, and production data against field observations.
- Support weekly and monthly reporting, progress measurement, and payment validation.
- Review and oversee Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including participation in witness and hold points.
- Track and monitor submissions such as drawings, RFIs, test results, deficiencies, and reports against agreed schedules.
- Review construction submittals, work plans, risk assessments, and temporary works designs for constructability and compliance.
- Manage interfaces with civil PCOs, engineering disciplines, and stakeholders to resolve conflicts and support efficient execution.
- Identify and escalate risks, non‑conformances, and emerging issues, supporting mitigation planning as required.
- Understand construction sequencing and monitor impacts to critical path activities.
- Lead, mentor, and support assigned field specialists, including performance feedback and development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
- 7–10 years of relevant construction or field engineering experience, preferably on large infrastructure or urban rail projects.
- Experience acting as a Delivery Partner or owner’s representative providing field oversight of contractor works.
- Proven experience managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), validating quantities and progress, and supporting cost and schedule control.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, schedule impacts, and interface management.
- Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring field specialists or construction support staff.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and technical writing skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Bluebeam; experience with AutoCAD and Navisworks is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and Zero Accident safety programs.

Base Annual Salary: $100,000 to $150,000 CAD per year (Bantrel provides a competitive compensation package that reflects the skills, qualifications, and experience relevant to the role. The figures shared represent base salary only and do not include other elements of the Total Rewards offering. Final compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and alignment with the role requirements.)
