Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As aPlatform Lead, Payments Technology, you’ll oversee the technical direction, development, and implementation of our technology platforms within the organization. This role requires a deep understanding of platform architecture, integration, and scalability to ensure the delivery of robust and efficient platform services. The Platform Tech Lead will work closely with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business objectives and drive innovation. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability and performance of our platforms, as well as supporting our ITS strategic roadmap.

This is aFull-time, Permanentrole based at our Head Office, in Vancouver, British Columbia. and will report directly to theManager****, Application Technology.

Our head office is based in Vancouver, but we are open to candidates in BC and Ontario. While this position is for an existing vacancy and provides a hybrid work arrangement, you will be expected to be on-site for events and business demands when needed.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Developing and executing a forward‑looking platform roadmap that aligns with business objectives, enhances member and user experience, and balances innovation with stability across key payment capabilities including Interac e-Transfer, Real-Time Rail (RTR), EFT/ACH, wires, and other domestic and cross-border payment services
  • Leading and mentoring a cross‑functional team of engineers, architects, and product partners, while providing strong technical guidance grounded in hands-on knowledge of payments systems, clearing and settlement processes, and integration with core banking platforms and promoting best practices in platform architecture, reliability, security, and engineering excellence
  • Ensuring the Payments platform architecture is robust, secure, and highly scalable, establishing technical standards and operational guardrails that support high availability, resiliency, transaction integrity and regulatory compliance across all payment channels
  • Supporting the organization in delivering and enhancing key payment services including Interac e-Transfer, EFT processing, wire payments, Real-Time Rail readiness, and emerging payment capabilities and providing hands-on tecnical leadership to guide solution design, integrations and ongoing platform improvements
  • Defining and tracking meaningful platform metrics related to transaction throughput, settlement accuracy, platform performance, reliability, and incident management
  • Using data‑driven insights to continuously improve platform health and operational efficiency
  • Owing the end‑to‑end delivery of payments platform initiatives—from planning and architecture through execution and release—ensuring alignment with business priorities, regulatory obligations, and delivery timelines
  • Collaborating closely with product, digital banking, fraud, treasury and operations teams to translate evolving business needs into scalable platform solutions that support both current and future growth
  • Overseeing relationships with payment network providers and external vendorsand ensuring integrations with Interac, payment processors, wire networks, clearing systems, and core banking platforms are reliable, secure and optimized
  • Staying current with industry trends across the Canadian payments ecosystem and identifying opportunities to modernize legacy infrastructure, support real-time payments adoption, and continuously improve platform capabilities through new technologies and architectural improvements
  • Ensuring platform solutions comply with Payments Canada rules, regulatory requirements, security standards, and internal risk policies, proactively incorporating compliance, fraud prevention and operational resilience into platform design

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience building, integrating, or operating banking or payments platforms, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.

  • Strong hands-on knowledge of payment systems, including one or more of the following:

    • Interac e-Transfer
    • Real-Time Rail (RTR)
    • EFT/ACH processing
    • Wire payments
    • Card or other electronic payment networks
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian payments ecosystem including Payments Canada frameworks, clearing and settlement processes, and partner/vendor landscape

  • Experience working with core banking integrations and payment processing platforms

  • Working knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and modern engineering practices

  • Strong experience with API development, microservices architecture, and integration frameworks

  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations.

  • Proficiency across the platform stack (application, services, and database layers)

  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and distributed systems design

  • Experience operating platforms in multi-server or distributed environments.

  • Working knowledge of DevOps principles.

  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk or similar platforms

  • Strong technical leadershipcapabilitiesincluding architecture decision making, roadmap development, platform optimization and delivery execution

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear guidance for business and product stakeholders

What You’ll Earn:

This role offers a salary range of**$113,100 - $139,650 per annum**. The base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
