About the Opportunity
Methanex is currently seeking a Purchasing & Finance Coordinator to join the team in Medicine Hat, AB, on a full-time basis.
The Purchasing & Finance Coordinator supports the procurement of goods and services for Methanex Medicine Hat by coordinating vendor relations and contracting processes. This role contributes to the development and implementation of efficient practices across contractor management, procurement, and finance functions, while also providing administrative support to both the Finance and Procurement teams.
More specifically, your responsibilities will include:
- Coordinate the full purchasing cycle, including vendor qualification, onboarding, performance management, and contract administration in alignment with Methanex standards
- Support the procurement of goods and services by preparing requests for proposals (RFPs), quotations (RFQs), and related documentation
- Administer and maintain vendor, contractor, and supplier databases, ensuring data accuracy, compliance, and confidentiality
- Develop and deliver training for users of the Purchasing Management System, maintaining related user guides, procedures, and resources
- Support the Contractor Management and vendor compliance processes, including collection and verification of HSSEQ, insurance, and WCB documentation
- Monitor contract expirations and support the Annual Procurement Plan, initiating renewals, extensions, and competitive sourcing as required
- Prepare and track key procurement and finance metrics, including vendor KPIs, compliance reports, and customs documentation
- Partner with Finance to support invoice management, Delegation of Authority (DOA) compliance, and the maintenance of financial records
- Drive process efficiency by identifying workflow improvements, supporting digital tools (e.g., DocuSign, SharePoint), and ensuring adherence to global procurement standards
- Organize and facilitate vendor and contractor meetings, training sessions, audits, and travel or logistics arrangements as required
- Maintain site records and documentation—including contract registers, commitment logs, and SharePoint files—in accordance with company policies
- Promote Methanex’s core values and Responsible Care® principles in all purchasing, finance, and vendor interactions
About You
To qualify, you will need to possess a post-secondary diploma in Accounting, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related discipline. Previous experience in an industrial environment, particularly within finance, procurement, or administrative functions, is considered an asset. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); experience with purchasing or ERP systems is an advantage.
