About The Role The Staff iOS Engineer role at Capital One Canada offers an exciting opportunity to lead and inspire a team of talented mobile developers. You will be responsible for managing the delivery of key components and platform needs, ensuring the development of innovative, high-quality mobile applications that enhance customer experience. This role combines hands-on technical development with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring junior team members, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving best practices in software engineering.

As part of the team, you will contribute to the development of flagship products such as Credit Keeper, which allows customers to view and monitor their credit scores; features enabling customers to view and edit their personal information directly within the mobile app; and Quick Check, which provides customers with pre-approval certainty for credit card applications. Capital One's commitment to cloud technology, open source frameworks, RESTful APIs, and microservices ensures that you will be working at the forefront of modern software development, delivering solutions quickly and efficiently to meet customer needs.

This role is ideal for a seasoned iOS developer passionate about innovation, leadership, and making a meaningful impact in the financial technology landscape. You will have the opportunity to influence product strategy, improve engineering practices, and contribute to a forward-thinking organization dedicated to making banking better for Canadians.

Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in any field, along with extensive experience in iOS application development. You should have at least six years of hands-on experience developing native iOS applications using Swift and SwiftUI, coupled with a strong background in application design, technical architecture, and full-cycle development. Proven leadership skills, including mentoring junior and intermediate developers, are essential. Experience guiding technical and business stakeholders and working within agile teams is also highly valued.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the delivery of major components and platform needs in collaboration with senior engineers and architects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and technical standards.
  • Participate actively in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from planning and design to implementation and support.
  • Enhance software engineering practices by working within agile teams to design, develop, test, and deploy technical solutions across various development tools and technologies.
  • Contribute expertise on how emerging technologies impact the domain, providing innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Mentor and guide junior, intermediate, and senior mobile engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Collaborate with product teams and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliverables.
  • Ensure the quality, security, and performance of mobile applications through rigorous testing and code reviews.
