Position Overview The Manager, Learning Design will assist in leading the design, development, and implementation of strategic learning and development programs that support employees within IGM Operations.

A key member of the Learning & Development (L&D) team within Enterprise Operations Enablement, this role combines expertise in instructional design and adult learning principles with strong project management capabilities to deliver innovative, high-quality learning experiences that enhance employee performance.

Reporting to the Director, Communications and Learning & Development, the Manager, Learning Design will oversee end-to-end execution of medium to large-scale L&D initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives, consistency in learning standards, and timely delivery. Through collaboration with business partners and a focus on continuous improvement, this role plays a critical part in shaping the learning strategy and advancing organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Leads strategic L&D programs with a focus on learning strategy, innovation, and client experience.
  • Oversees end-to-end project management and implementation of strategic learning initiatives.
  • Applies instructional design and adult learning models to elevate learning experiences and ensure consistency.
  • Focuses on innovative learning experiences with the latest technologies and trends (e.g., AI tools, Articulate Suite, Synthesia, Canva, etc.) to enhance and deliver innovative learning programs and learning experiences.
  • Collaborates with business partners to ensure strategic alignment and timely delivery of learning initiatives.
  • Uses data and feedback to inform learning strategy and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prioritizes good design principles to influence learning strategy and personal development.
  • Supports L&D team members with growth and expertise in learning design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in learning and development, instructional design, organizational development, and skills development – preferably in the Financial Services industry
  • Completion of post-secondary degree/diploma or professional certification/designation in Instructional Design, Adult Education, or related field
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and SMEs
  • Proven track record of application of adult learning principles, instructional design, and best practices such as micro learning, learning journeys and learning experience design (LxD)
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in learning authoring tools (Articulate Suite, Synthesia, etc.) is required
  • Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and LMS and/or LXP systems
  • Experience in reporting and measuring the effectiveness of learning programs
  • Proven project management skills, and ability to manage multiple projects within tight deadlines
  • Strong and effective communication skills
  • Creative mindset to help foster partnership, collaboration, innovation and the ability to build and manage strong relationships
  • Knowledge of learning industry best practices, emerging trends and instructional design methodology
  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset

As this position is posted in Montréal, Toronto and Winnipeg, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English.

The expected annual base salary range (prorated for the term) for this role is $69,500 - $100,500 , which is determined based on geographic location and candidate’s skills, knowledge and experience. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for paid time off (prorated for the term).
