About the role

Our Story

Every day, people contact 211 Nova Scotia feeling overwhelmed, unsure of where to turn, or in urgent need of support. On the other end of that call, text, or chat is a Community Resource Navigator who is ready to listen, guide, and connect them to the resources they need.

At 211 Nova Scotia, we believe support should be accessible to everyone no matter who they are or what they are facing. Help starts with a conversation that uncovers what matters most and guides people toward services that meet them where they are.

The systems we navigate- government programs, community services, and crisis support- can be complex and fragmented. Our Navigators are the calm in the chaos, the bridge between need and solution, and the voice that says, “You are not alone.”

The Role: Community Resource Navigator

This isn’t just a job. It is a frontline position in a human-centered system. As a Navigator, you will respond to inquiries from residents of Nova Scotia and PEI by phone, email, text and online chat.

You will listen attentively, ask thoughtful questions, and make needs-based assessments to understand what someone truly requires.

You will provide referrals to government, social, and community programs, and offer crisis support with compassion, clarity, and a commitment to equity.

What You Can Expect

· Full-time and part-time contract positions available

· Shifts include days, overnights, weekends, and holidays- because support is needed beyond 9 to 5

· Competitive compensation and group health benefits to support your well-being

· Paid 6-week training program on-site in Dartmouth to set you up for success

Who You Are

You see people not problems. You bring a trauma-informed lens to your work and know how to hold space for someone in distress. You have a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, human services, or equivalent experience and more importantly, you have heart.

Our Commitment to Belonging

211 Nova Scotia is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace that reflects the diversity of the communities we serve. We value a workforce that is competent, engaged, and adaptable and one that embraces innovation and brings a wide range of perspectives to our mission. We strive to ensure every employee feels respected, supported, and empowered to contribute fully.

We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, regardless of race, colour, religion, sex (including gender identity and/or expression), national origin, sexual orientation, relationship status, disability, age, parental status, military service, or any other status protected under federal/provincial law. Applicants who are members of employment equity groups are encouraged to self-identify.

Ready to Join Us?

If this role speaks to your values, skills and desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you. References and a current, clean Criminal Reference Check will be required. We thank all applicants for their interest; only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
