What is the opportunity?

RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) serving individual and institutional investors in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. Eastern Canada includes all CIRO-regulated dealers in Québec and the Atlantic provinces.

The mission of the Regional Vice-President is to focus on outcomes, ensure alignment across teams, and enable RBC GAM to exceed advisor expectations while accelerating asset and sales growth. This will enable the firm to double our business over the next 5 years as measured by assets under management.

What will you do?

Accelerate Growth:

  • Accelerate the growth of Advisor Channel assets and sales over the next 3 to 5 years and double the number of core client relationships within the region.

Sales Leadership:

  • Effective leadership for 8 direct reports covering 7 territories, and alignment within and across teams.
  • Foster an internally collaborative/externally competitive team culture with a focus on outcomes, alignment, and support of RBC GAMs strategy and sales approach.
  • Partner with regional dealer leads in Eastern Canada as a valued partner.
  • Hire, coach, and retain top sales talent and guide territory business planning to support execution, including being in-market with clients.

Business Leadership:

  • Focus on outcomes for investors, advisors, team members, and shareholders, and actively contribute to leadership team strategy.
  • Accountable for overall RBC GAM results as a member of the Leadership team in addition to specific results in the East.
  • Communicate our national roadmap and vision to regional teams and enable them to execute effectively.
  • Represent RBC GAM, participate in cross-functional projects, and collaborate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Senior representation for RBC GAM within our Montréal office.

What do you need to succeed? Must-have

  • Proven track record of sales and/or sales leadership, including specific experience with CIRO-regulated dealer partners
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching and leading high-performing teams
  • Growth mindset and solution orientation
  • Technical knowledge of capital markets and deep understanding of mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts (SMA)
  • Strong relationship skills and proven ability to engage partners in pursuit of collective goals
  • Bilingualism (English and French) required, as you will regularly serve our clients and do business with RBC partners and/or employees across Canada with English and French speaking needs
  • Humility

Nice-to-have

  • Professional designations (e.g., CFA, CIM, F.Pl., etc.)
  • Post-graduate degree
