About the role

General Registrant position with flexible caseload and flexible start date!

Our team at MGB are committed to supporting Midwives in being their authentic selves and achieving work-life balance. We have a strong sleep relief policy and we stick to it. Midwives at MGB work within a small team, shared care model and have the weekly support of a post partum Midwife. At MGB we strive to make collective decisions, ensuring that all voices are heard. Our rural setting offers broad clinical experience, high homebirth rates and eligibility for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness!

We are a group of 12 midwives looking for a Midwife who is interested in providing individualized care to diverse clientele including a large population of Old Order Amish and Mennonite folk. We strongly support informed choice for our clients and are committed to providing inclusive and culturally safe care.

MGB is a dedicated teaching practice that strives to offer students and New Registrants enriching and positive learning experiences including ECVs, breast pump inductions and cervical ripening with foley catheter. We manage epidurals but choose to transfer care for oxytocin to maintain our homebirth rate of approximately 30%.

We serve a vast catchment area that stretches from the northern tip of the Saugeen Peninsula, south to Kincardine and east to the Beaver Valley. We are living and practicing in Robinson Treaty and Saugeen Treaty territories and on the traditional lands of the Anishinabek along the beautiful shores of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron. We have excellent travel compensation and for those looking to relocate we have connections to help people find housing if needed.

To best serve our region, we have two clinic sites and hold privileges at three hospitals. Our main clinic is in Owen Sound, a small city with a level two hospital. Our second clinic site is in the small town of Walkerton to support clients in the southern part of our catchment area. We hold privileges at two level one hospitals in that area in Hanover and Wakerton.

We are committed to inclusion and diversity and encourage applications from people who identify as IBPOC, LGBTQ2IA+ or with diverse abilities.

To apply, please fax or email your cover letter and CV to us!

The Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) and the National Aboriginal Council of Midwives (NACM) are the national organizations representing midwives and the profession of midwifery in Canada. In partnership, NACM and CAM provide leadership and advocacy for accessible, autonomous, and publicly funded midwifery. We promote the vital role of midwives in sexual, reproductive, and newborn health. Our work is grounded in equity, respectful care, informed choice, self-determination, and reproductive justice. We advocate for community-responsive midwifery and contribute to progressive health policy in Canada, and internationally.
