Primary Duties
Position Summary:
The Serviceperson A is responsible for the safe installation, removal, connection and disconnection of gas, electric and water meters. They will investigate and resolve problems with meters, power, repair water tanks and inspect gas appliances.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure meters are installed and work is completed consistent with applicable regulations, codes and standards.

Respond promptly to gas emergencies and adhere to established schedules for meter readings, repairs and inspections.
-
Provide clear and prompt communication to customers regarding meter changes and any related inquiries or concerns.
-
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and meter readings.
-
Collaborate and liaise with emergency services personnel to facilitate the resolution of emergencies in a timely and effective manner.

Initiate minor repairs or adjustments to gas, water and electrical meters as needed.
-
Provide stakeholders with regular updates on progress, potential hazards and service-related issues.

Comply with all health and safety requirements, maintain a safe work environment, report hazards and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
Education, Certification and Other Qualifications Required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
-
Advanced communication and time management skills
-
Advanced proficiency in gas system operations and maintenance
-
Advanced knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
-
Advanced knowledge of CSA B149:20 and CSA Z662:23
-
Intermediate knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety requirements as it relates to individual, organizational and operational requirements
-
Basic proficiency with MS 365 and Arc GIS
-
Basic ability to perform GMI service, repair and calibration
-
Basic knowledge of residential metering techniques and equipment
-
Basic skills in industrial maintenance, including equipment troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance procedures
Qualifications:
-
G2 Gas Technician License
-
3 years’ hands on experience in a similar role
-
Class G drivers’ license
Special Working Conditions/Conditions of Employment
- A Criminal Record Check, to the satisfaction of Utilities Kingston, will be required at the successful candidate’s expense.
- Maintain at minimum a valid “G” driver’s license and appropriate Gas Technician Certification throughout employment.
- Work a rotational shift work schedule as required.
- All other tasks as required.
