School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Invites applications for the position of:
MECHANICAL TECHNOLOGIST
Temporary, Full-Time (dayshift)
**SUMMARY: **
The Mechanical Technologist reports to the Assistant Director of Operations, and the Mechanical Trades Supervisor and is responsible for the proper functioning of Digital Direct Control Systems.
**DUTIES: **
- Installs, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains D.D.C. systems at district sites; assists HVAC Mechanics.
- Provides support, technical advice and training to other trades and district staff relating to use and maintenance of D.D.C. and other electronic equipment.
- Provides estimates and advice on new installations, repairs, or modifications; orders related supplies and equipment.
- Analyzes and interprets D.D.C. systems and reports to identify trends and problems; recommends solutions.
- Reads, understands, modifies, and maintains related technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints; maintains current working knowledge of applicable codes and regulations.
- Operates computer systems to observe and troubleshoot HVAC problems on site and remotely.
- Reports unsafe conditions; Work may to assigned in other classifications in times of emergency.
- Keeps a detailed account of work performed for the computerized costing system.
- Operates power and manual tools related to the job such as computer, drills, meters, etc.
**REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: **
Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma (with a strong emphasis on D.D.C. Systems) from a recognized college/institution plus three years of recent experience installing, programming, troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC controls and widely
recognized D.D.C Systems OR five years recent experience as noted above including manufacturer's training.
A valid Class 5 BC Drivers' License.
The successful candidate works 40 hours per week (7:00am to 3:30pm) and the rate of pay is $38.49 per hour + 16% in lieu of benefits.
