Our Property and Casualty (P&C) team aspires to be a modernizing leader in providing financial security to Canadians through the offering of superior client-centric insurance products and services. Our highly skilled, transforming P&C Underwriting team strives forward to deliver effective underwriting insurance services and evolving offerings to address emerging insurance trends and meet the evolving needs of our clients.
As the Associate Vice President (AVP), Underwriting, and as a member of our P&C Insurance Solutions Leadership team you will cultivate and guide the execution of an operational transformation journey for Underwriting functions across Home, Auto, Commercial, and Farm lines of business. Following holistic client-centric data-driven insights and risk assessments, the AVP, Underwriting will champion and ensure the national enterprise operations of P&C Underwriting function enables and supports optimal profitable growth within each product portfolio. The AVP, Underwriting in close partnership with stakeholders, will spearhead optimization efficiencies and quality enhancements in underwriting operations.
How You Will Create Impact
- Cultivating and refining strategic roadmaps, and overseeing the operational management of P&C Underwriting with key performance metrics to ensure underwriting risk solutions address holistic client needs and enhance overall business profitability, and growth in alignment with broader business strategy.
- Directing the development of integrated plans, ensuring optimal department performance, and guiding actions to optimize efficiencies; while ensuring portfolio health in alignment with broader strategy and claims analysis.
- Motivationally directing operations of Personal Lines and Specialty Lines Underwriting teams, and establishing financial control guidelines, policies, procedures, and best practices to elevate Underwriting quality.
- Providing guidance, oversight, strategic connection, and collaborative to Underwriting Managers / Leaders to operationalize changes within teams.
- Developing trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, serving as a principal distribution partner liaison, and effectively managing external industry and other complex relationships.
- Leading and engaging your team to deliver strategic objectives through effective coaching and mentoring, identifying and developing emerging talent, and fostering an innovative, collaborative, and agile culture.

To Join Our Team
- You have 7 years of progressive transformational leadership experience with a focus on developing and executing a strategy to achieve business outcomes, including multi years of experience in the P&C industry.
- You hold a university degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Actuarial, Risk Management or a similarly related field of study.
- You hold a FCIP or CIP designation.
- You have applied leadership experience in guiding transformation changes in teams and developing or enhancing operational practices.
- You hold knowledge in underwriting and insurance functions; understanding industry regulations and practices is an asset.
- This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

- Detail oriented work that requires a moderate degree of mental concentration for extended periods of time.
