What You’ll Do
As a valued member of our care team, you will:
Resident Care and Engagement

      • Deliver individualized nursing care and administer medications
      • Provide emotional and physical support with a resident-first mindset
      • Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and health screening protocols
      • Conduct clinical assessments and review lab results
      • Supervise restorative and palliative programs and oversee procedures such as catheterization, tube feedings, and dialysis

Operational Support and Compliance

      • Support and mentor Personal Support Workers
      • Address resident, family, and visitor concerns professionally
      • Document care electronically and work collaboratively with Registered Nurses and Nurse Leaders
      • Comply with Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety regulations
      • Participate in regular training and team meetings

What You Bring

Education and Commitment to Growth**:**

    • High school diploma (Grade 12 minimum)
    • Personal Support Worker Certificate or enrolled in RN/RPN program with one year of full-time studies completed

Experience and Expertise:

        • Minimum of six months of nursing experience in long-term care preferred
        • Proficiency in electronic health record systems
        • Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills

Other Requirements:

    • You will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained within the past six (6) months, as required by the Long-term care home act
    • Proof of a negative 2 Step TB test result along with a one-step negative result from within the last 2 (two) months, as required by the Long-term care home act

Hours of Work

A part-time employee shall be available to work 10 to 15 shifts which may include holidays and weekends. The work schedule shall be maintained as per Employer policies and CUPE 860 Collective Agreement.

Work Schedule - The Employer operates 24 hours, 7 (seven) days a week and your hours of work are based on resident needs which may include working days, afternoons, midnight and weekend shifts. It is understood and agreed that employees will work in accordance with a shift schedule. Shift schedules shall be posted at least seven (7) calendar days prior to such schedule becoming effective. The schedule shall not be changed once it has been posted unless mutually agreed upon by the Employer and the affected employee.

What We Are Offering As a CUPE 860 position, this role is on Band 8 with a starting hourly rate of $32.43, plus additional 12% in lieu of benefits as per the collective agreement Sun Parlor Home embraces diversity and inclusion in our workforce and workplace.
