Senior Financial Reporting Manager
About the role
We're partnering with a large, complex Alberta organization to recruit a Senior Financial Reporting Manager for a 10-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys tackling complex accounting issues, leading cross-functional initiatives, and driving large-scale finance transformation projects. This role is ideal for someone coming from a large corporate environment with a strong technical accounting foundation and experience navigating complex organizations.
The target start date will be mid-August, and it is a hybrid model (Southside office location).
What You'll Be Doing
Lead technical accounting research and provide guidance on IFRS, accounting policies, and Canadian tax matters. Coordinate monthly consolidations, quarterly forecasts, and enterprise-wide financial reporting activities. Analyze complex accounting and financial issues, assessing their impact across multiple business units. Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership. Partner with finance teams across the organization to improve financial reporting and business processes. Support a major finance transformation initiative, including the implementation of Workday Adaptive Planning. Document and evaluate current finance processes while identifying opportunities for improvement. Lead cross-functional projects, influence stakeholders, and provide subject matter expertise across the finance function. Mentor and provide technical guidance to finance team members throughout the project.
What We're Looking For
7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. CPA designation is preferred. Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and Canadian accounting standards. Experience with financial reporting, consolidations, and technical accounting research. Previous public practice experience, particularly with a Big 4 firm, is highly desirable. Proven ability to lead projects and influence teams without direct authority. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present recommendations to senior leadership. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Advanced Excel skills and experience working with enterprise financial systems. Experience with Workday or Workday Adaptive Planning is considered a strong asset.
