Job Information
As the Field Operations Administrative Clerk located in Hay River, the incumbent will be providing support for the Department of Environment and Climate Change in the South Slave Region. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation in accordance with Government of Northwest Territories (GNWT) acts, regulation, policies, and procedures that include the Financial Administration Act, Financial Administration Manual, Contract Regulations, Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, the Human Resource Manual and various GNWT Policies. This position reports to the Renewable Resource Officer III and support operations in the various regional communities as required by operational demands, a priority May through August will also assist with clerical and administration services to the Wildland Fire Program.
The knowledge, skills and abilities, required for the position are:
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills in order to dispatch aircraft and communicate effectively with staff, crew (air and ground), and the general public.
- Effective organizational and time management skills in order to prioritize duties and tasks under pressure.
- Knowledge of basic accounting skills to ensure accurate documentation and accountability while using various types of financial software.
- Ability to complete work without supervision and potentially, under stressful conditions.
The above knowledge, skills and abilities are typically attained by:
The completion of Grade 12 high school diploma with basic accounting skills, along with one year of relevant office experience. A valid Class 5 drivers licence is required. A Restricted Radio Operator Certificate-Aeronautical (ROC-A) licence is a legal requirement.
Equivalences may include;
- A certificate in Business Administration or similar administration studies and 6 months of relevant Office Experience. A valid Class 5 drivers licence is required. A Restricted Radio Operator Certificate-Aeronautical (ROC-A) licence is a legal requirement
- Grade 11 high school education, and 2 years of relevant office experience. A valid Class 5 drivers licence is required. A Restricted Radio Operator Certificate-Aeronautical (ROC-A) licence is a legal requirement
