This Position reports to:

The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Quebec is a global leader in the field of spectroscopy. Our contract engineering service is the largest Canadian supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions and global weather forecasting. Our plant is also recognized for its expertise in developing and manufacturing various products that meet a wide range of industrial analysis needs on a daily basis.
By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Quebec, you will actively contribute to the activities of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team.
In this position, you will be responsible for the design and updating of electronic systems for ABB products, specifically for Measurement & Analytics products within the Process Automation (PA) division, ensuring the highest level of quality for our industrial products as well as those in the space and defense (SDS) sectors.
Reporting to the supervisor of the electronics group, you will work as a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Designer within the electrical engineering team (Electronics Group).
Your Role: Take on the Challenge
- Design schematics, placement, and routing of multilayer PCBs (4 to 12 layers) for mixed-signal boards (analog/digital), flex, and rigid-flex.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure PCB integration meets mechanical, thermal (conduction), and EMI/EMC constraints.
- Create and maintain part libraries (symbols, footprints).
- Perform DFM/DFT in collaboration with PCB manufacturers and assemblers.
- Support development teams in component selection.
- Participate in the assembly, testing, and validation of prototypes.
What it takes to run what runs the world
- Technical DEC in computer systems or electrical/electronic engineering technology, or a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with significant experience (15 years).
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of electronic circuits.
- Proficiency in Altium Designer (mandatory), PCB Lib Expert (asset), Windchill (asset).
- Experience in the space or military sectors (an asset), IPC Certified Interconnect Designer certification (an asset).
- Good command of French and English, both spoken and written. French is required. English is also required to regularly communicate with clients outside Quebec.
