Type of employment: Permanent; DIDO (Côté Gold mine site near Gogama, ON) - Shuttle bus from Sudbury or Timmins, ON
Business Line: SGS Natural Resources, Minerals - Geochemistry
Reporting to: Laboratory Manager

SUMMARY

We are hiring a maintenance/electrical worker to join our team. You will inspect different mechanical and automated equipment and perform preventative maintenance and repairs when required. Your role will also consist of repairs and maintenance of the assay lab building, ventilation and heating systems. To do well in this role you should have previous experience in maintenance, be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals.

This is a drive in drive out position. You will be required to drive in to the Cote Gold site and stay for 2 weeks. Work 12 hour day/night shifts. Stay at our accommodations provided then drive home for 2 weeks.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Repairing machines, equipment, or structures as necessary

  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment

  • Performing preventative maintenance

  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance

  • Demonstrates good and safe work habits and enforces a clean working environment;

  • Ensures all personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant for tasks is worn properly at all times;

  • Keep all records and notebooks in good order including work order and equipment maintenance logs;

  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance checks on equipment;

  • Lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to 23 Kilograms;

  • Ensures all maintenance equipment, tools and containers are organized and cleaned before and after use;

  • Ensures compliance with all required local and federal safety processes and procedures;

  • Performs general upkeep and housekeeping of the laboratory;

  • Performs bulk supply receiving and other forklift activities as required

  • Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Managers.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold a certificate or diploma in a related field
  • 2 to 5+ years working in industrial setting
  • Valid G class license with clean driving abstract;

Preferred:

  • Instrumentation, Millwright, Electrician or HVAC certification

  • Counterbalance Forklift and / or Low Lift (Electric Pallet Jack) certificates. Training will be provided.
