Salary: FT Support Payband: J
Salary Range: $42.56 - $49.32
Starting Salary: $42.56
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

About the Capital Development and Facilities Management at Humber:

Capital Development & Facilities Management is responsible for new construction and renovation projects and provides project design, planning and space allocation services to improve and expand Humber's campus environment. We maintain all college buildings and grounds to provide a safe, clean, healthy and well-maintained campus environment that supports well-being and promotes excellence in teaching and learning at Humber. We also lead the college’s sustainability programs through the Office of Sustainability.

About the Building Mechanic/Operator Role:

Under the general supervision of the Associate Manager, Plant Services the incumbent performs skilled and professional repair and maintenance services to the College’s mechanical/HVAC systems and associated infrastructure ensuring a safe and reliable mechanical/HVAC system. This work involves troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining and diagnosing issues, recommending/implementing and overseeing repair/remediation solutions to maintain a safe and comfortable learning and working environment in all college buildings.

As a key member of the Central Plant Services team, the incumbent is required to be on call according to a published schedule.

Education

  • Ontario Trade Certification - Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Facilities Technician, or 4th class stationary engineer,
  • Building Environmental Systems Certificate and Gas Fitter license an asset.
  • This position requires a valid driver’s license.

Additional requirements obtained by course(s) of a total of 100 hours or less:

  • Mould and asbestos training
  • WHMIS
  • Fall Arrest and Work at Heights training
  • Lift Training
  • Arc Flash and Lockout/Tagout Protection Training
  • First Aid

Experience/Skills

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience

  • Mechanical/HVAC/building operations work experience, within a large scale institutional environment, for example, College, University, or Hospital.

  • Experience using Building Automation Software required.

  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, and communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to schedule and coordinate work in multiple locations with various community members and external contractors.

  • Knowledge of office computer software (MS Office, Outlook, work order systems).
