Your Role in Supporting Our Members:

As the Director, Capital and Stress Testing, you will lead the second line oversight of capital adequacy and stress testing processes at Vancity. This role is responsible for establishing validation frameworks for capital usage, overseeing the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), and ensuring that capital risk is effectively measured and managed. Reporting to the VP Risk Management - Finance and Treasury, you will serve as a key liaison with regulators and internal stakeholders, ensuring that capital planning aligns with enterprise risk appetite and regulatory expectations while supporting Vancity’s mission of financial inclusion and community impact.

This is a permanent role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. You may be required to work on-site several days each week to support executive collaboration and regulatory engagement.

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Strategic Oversight and Framework Implementation: Design and implement the governance framework for capital risk measurement and stress testing from inception, ensuring alignment with Vancity’s mission and regulatory expectations
  • Team Leadership and Development: Build a lean, high-performing team fostering a collaborative and mission-driven culture while maintaining independence and accountability.
  • Validation and Independent Challenge: Establish validation processes for Finance’s measurement of capital usage, ensuring accuracy and consistency in capital calculations and escalate concerns as needed.
  • ICAAP Governance and Regulatory Engagement: Lead the governance and continuous enhancement of Vancity’s ICAAP, bringing together capital forecasts, risk assessments, and forward-looking analysis in close partnership with Finance, Treasury, and other stakeholders to provide the Board and regulators with a clear view of capital adequacy.
  • Ongoing Stress Testing and Scenario Analysis: Ensure stress testing processes generate clear insights that guide decisions on balance sheet management, capital allocation and sustainable growth by providing independent challenge on scenario design, key assumptions, and interpretation of results to align outputs with Vancity’s risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and long-term strategy.
  • Regulatory Liaison and Collaboration: Support the VP, Risk Management - Finance & Treasury, in serving as a key liaison with regulators and in collaborating across Finance, Treasury, and Risk to ensure integrated planning

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or a related field. An MBA or similar advanced degree is an asset
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or Chartered Risk Management Professional (CRMP) designation preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in capital planning, stress testing, ICAAP, or related areas in a financial institution or regulator environment
  • Strong leadership skills with experience building and developing teams
  • Deep understanding of capital adequacy regulations, stress testing methodologies, and risk management frameworks
  • Proven track record of establishing processes and governance from the ground up, and providing strategic oversight of complex risk measurement frameworks
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with regulators

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:

  • Strategic – You connect capital risk management to Vancity’s broader mission, balancing prudential expectations with our purpose-driven goals
  • Analytical – You have advanced skills in capital modeling and stress testing, able to review data, detect anomalies, and ensure accuracy in capital adequacy calculations.
  • Collaborative – You build strong partnerships across Finance, Risk, and Treasury, fostering a culture of shared accountability and integrated planning
  • Regulatory-savvy – You understand OSFI requirements and capital adequacy frameworks, and can translate them into practical, mission-aligned frameworks
  • People-focused – You lead and grow a team, creating an environment where analysts can thrive and contribute to the organization’s resilience

We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.

What You’ll Earn:

The salary range for this role is $121,000 to $181,200 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, you will be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
