The Opportunity
We are looking for an HR & Payroll Coordinator to join our People & Culture team on a part-time, 1-year maternity leave coverage contract, with the possibility of this role evolving into a permanent opportunity.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain hands-on experience in both HR and payroll functions within a fast-growing SaaS company. You’ll work closely with our HR Director and leadership team to support day-to-day HR operations, payroll processing, onboarding, and employee engagement.

What You’ll Do
- Recruitment & Onboarding
- Assist with job postings, interview coordination, and scheduling
- Support new hire documentation and onboarding activities
- Payroll & Benefits Administration
- Prepare, review, and process payroll accurately and on time (semi-monthly)
- Track vacation, leaves, and overtime in the HRIS for payroll accuracy
- Act as the first point of contact for payroll and benefits questions
- Liaise with payroll providers and benefit carriers to resolve issues
- Support year-end payroll reporting and compliance
- HR Administration & Compliance
- Maintain accurate employee records in BambooHR and other systems
- Assist with policy updates, compliance requirements, and reporting
- Support HR audits and legislative compliance across jurisdictions
- Employee Engagement & Culture
- Coordinate team events and recognition programs
- Support employee surveys and internal communications
- Performance & Development
- Assist with performance review cycles and training coordination
- Help track and support employee development initiatives
What You Bring
- 1–2 years of HR, payroll, or office administration experience (co-op or internship experience considered)
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive, adaptable, and eager to grow within HR
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with BambooHR, Insperity, or other HR/payroll platforms
- Knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and employment standards
Information Security Responsibilities:
- Adhering to policies that govern acceptable use of organizational systems.
- Using the organization-provided IT resources for defined purposes only.
- Reporting anomalies or suspicious system behaviour.
- Submitting and justifying system change requests to the information owner/system owner or through the organization’s formal configuration management process.
