Northern Lights Public Schools invites applications for the following position:

S2526-18 Educational Assistant - Cold Lake Junior High School

We are seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Educational Assistant for the start of the 2025-2026 school year. This assignment involve assisting with student educational program needs including social skills, behaviour skills, self-help and personal care needs. This position requires a compassionate and energetic individual to work in a team environment.

Cold Lake Junior High School is located in the City of Cold Lake with approximately 480 students in grades 7-9. Cold Lake Junior High School is an inspiring environment where students are proud to learn, fostering student potential through academic responsibility, critical thinking and moral citizenship. Our goal is to educate the students and foster responsible and ethical citizens for the future.

Preference will be given to applicants who have**:**

  • Post-Secondary training and/or experience as an Educational Assistant
  • Knowledge and experience with behavioral strategies
  • Experience working one-on-one and/or in group settings
  • Knowledge of documentation procedures and proficiency with computers
  • Knowledge and experience in alternate communication strategies
  • Experience assisting students with self-help and personal care needs
  • Familiarity with strategies to address different learning styles and experience with Individual Program Plans

Training and skills that would be an asset include:

  • Relative experience in educational assistance, nursing and/or rehabilitation
  • SIVA and/or Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
