About the role

Tomlinson’s Materials Group is looking for a Lead Hand of the Maintenance Crew at our Bruce Mines Quarry.

Location: 9630 ON-17, Bruce Mines, ON

Vacancy Type: Replacement

Schedule: Day shift, Wednesday to Sunday, 10-12 hour days.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with all team members, fostering a positive and productive working environment.

  • Provide onsite leadership in the absence of the Foreman, ensuring maintenance and production activities continue safely, efficiently, and according to daily operational plans.

  • Delegate daily tasks and supports the execution of work assignments as directed by the Foreman, ensuring clarity of expectations and quality of workmanship.

  • Assist the Foreman in meeting maintenance, reliability, and production goals by coordinating and supporting the team in completing both scheduled and unscheduled work.

  • Monitor and track inventory, parts usage, and material needs to support ongoing and upcoming maintenance activities.

  • Document all repairs, and maintenance activities completed during each shift, including detailed notes on preventative maintenance needs, follow‑up actions, and equipment condition assessments.

  • Troubleshoot and problem‑solve equipment and plant issues, using technical knowledge to support quick and safe resolution of mechanical challenges.

  • Take the lead on maintenance projects around the plant, coordinating tasks, setting priorities, and supporting hands‑on work where needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar industry leadership role

  • Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating small teams in a maintenance or production setting.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve equipment failures.

  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance programs and documentation standards.

  • Knowledge of OHSA, safe work procedures, and lock‑out/tag‑out requirements.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with the ability to guide a team through daily expectations.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Exposure to outdoor elements year‑round including heat, cold, snow, and rain.

  • Requires walking, climbing, standing for extended periods, and performing physical maintenance tasks as needed.

  • May require overtime, extended hours, and occasional evening work depending on maintenance needs and production demands.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

The expected salary range for this position is $33.50 - $35.25 per hour. Placement within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including qualifications and experience.
