About the Role
The General Welder plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by fabricating, assembling, and repairing metal components and structures with precision and quality. This position requires the ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings to ensure accurate execution of welding tasks. The successful candidate will utilize various welding techniques, including TIG welding, to join metal parts, primarily working with sheet metal materials. Attention to detail and adherence to safety standards are paramount to maintain product integrity and workplace safety. Ultimately, the General Welder contributes to the production of durable, high-quality products that meet or exceed industry standards within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized welding apprenticeship or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in TIG welding and sheet metal work within a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Knowledge of welding safety standards and best practices.
- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) or equivalent.
- Experience with additional welding techniques such as MIG & TIG welding.
- Previous experience working in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
- Basic knowledge of metallurgy and material properties.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine welding requirements and specifications.
- Perform MIG/TIG welding and other welding techniques to join, fabricate, and repair metal components, primarily sheet metal.
- Inspect welded joints for quality and accuracy, ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturing standards.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition and report any malfunctions promptly.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production schedules and quality targets while adhering to safety protocols.
Skills
The required skills such as sheet metal work, blueprint interpretation, and MIG/TIG welding are essential for daily tasks involving precise fabrication and assembly of metal components. Blueprint interpretation skills enable the welder to understand complex designs and ensure that welds meet exact specifications. TIG welding expertise is critical for producing clean, high-quality welds on thin materials, which is common in sheet metal work. Preferred skills like additional welding techniques and familiarity with computerized equipment enhance efficiency and versatility in handling diverse welding tasks. Together, these skills ensure the General Welder can contribute effectively to manufacturing operations while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Hourly Rate: $24.74 / hr and after 3 continuous months of employment, the rate will increase to $27.89 / hr.
Operation Hours: Monday - Thursday: 7:30AM - 4:45PM & Friday: 7:30AM - 12:30PM.
