The Vocational Counsellor will, under the general direction of the Site Supervisor and drawing on their expertise in vocational/rehabilitative counseling provide counseling, advocacy and support services to clients and families of the Mental Health Program, Assertive Community Treatment Team. The Vocational Counsellor functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team that provides services to clients living with serious mental illness enabling them to maintain a level of optimal functioning and independence.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Two (2) year Diploma in Career and Work Counsellor
- Member of Registered Rehabilitative Counsellor, or Registered Vocational Counsellor Professional Association an asset
- Three (3) years of recent experience as a vocational/career counselor
- One (1) year experience working with individuals with severe mental illness in a community setting
- Experience with relevant programs in Renfrew County is an asset
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities
- Previous experience in a team environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated computer software application skills including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Power Point
- Valid Class G Driver’s License
- Access to a reliable vehicle with minimum $2,000,000.00 liability insurance
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, the Health Care Consent Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of community resources, agencies and supports
- Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital
- Embodies the LEAN ideology by actively and continually seeking opportunities for continuous improvement
- Bilingual preferred (French/English)
