About the role
The Manufacturing Engineer/Technologist is responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining manufacturing processes that are capable of consistently producing products that meet engineering specifications and quality requirements. This role ensures process capability, stability, and repeatability through the application of statistical methods, risk analysis tools, and robust process controls. The Manufacturing Engineer leads process development, supports new product introductions, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce variation, and increase operational efficiency.

Essential Duties
- Process Development & Capability
- Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure consistent production of products meeting design specifications and customer requirements.
- Establish and verify process capability (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) for critical product characteristics.
- Define and maintain process parameters, tolerances, and operating windows required to maintain capable processes.
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process variables and improve process robustness.
- Lead process validation activities, including Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) where applicable.
- Risk Analysis & Process Control
- Develop and maintain Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks.
- Create and maintain Control Plans to ensure proper monitoring and control of critical process parameters and product characteristics.
- Implement and maintain Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems including control charts, sampling plans, and reaction plans.
- Define critical-to-quality (CTQ) characteristics and ensure appropriate measurement and control methods are in place.
- Support Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities including Gage R&R studies.
- Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve process issues impacting quality, throughput, or yield, supporting the Mirion Factory Development System.
- Perform root cause analysis using structured methodologies such as 8D, A3, Fishbone, and 5-Why.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring process issues.
- Monitor process performance using data analysis and drive improvements to reduce scrap, rework, and variability.
- New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Support the transition of new products from design to production by developing robust manufacturing processes.
- Participate in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews.
- Develop manufacturing documentation including work instructions, standard work, and process flow diagrams, cycle times and capacity studies.
- Define tooling, fixtures, and equipment requirements needed to support production.
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies to improve process capability and operational efficiency.
- Identify opportunities to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), cycle time, and throughput.
- Drive cost reduction through process improvements, waste elimination, and yield improvements.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with applicable quality management systems (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ASME NQA-1 and ISO 19443 or similar).
- Support internal and external quality audits and ensure required process documentation is maintained.
- Work closely with Quality Engineering to ensure processes meet internal and customer quality standards.
Responsibilities – Safety & Quality:

Additional Requirements
- Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to successfully complete projects.
- Strong communication skills in English that enables communication of technical concepts to all levels of the organization.
- Six Sigma Green belt or black belt, and lean manufacturing experience.
- Experience with APQP and PPAP processes.
- Experience using statistical software such as Minitab etc.
- Experience with automation or advanced manufacturing technologies.
- Professional Engineering Certification by a recognized board such as the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) or C.E.T designation is a plus.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- 3-5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment.
- Strong experience with process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams and MSA.
- Ability to interpret engineering.
