About the role
Role Overview:
The Credit Analyst I is responsible for supporting the Financial Centre teams by performing administrative tasks, assisting with credit analysis, and maintaining high credit quality standards. This entry-level role focuses on developing credit writing skills and gaining experience in the financial services industry. This role supports Assiniboine Credit Union/ Caisse Assiniboine (ACU)’s commitment to rural and agricultural communities, francophone services, values-based banking and ACU’s triple bottom line accountability to people, planet, and prosperity.
Key accountabilities:

Contribute to the ongoing analysis and maintenance of the department's commercial loan portfolio
-
Complete administrative tasks, including preparing checklists and maintaining diaries for Annual Reviews
-
Administer reports for teams as required
-
Collect information and input financial data into analysis programs
-
Lead the Annual Review Process for the Financial Centre portfolio
-
Prepare files and communicate with the disbursement department to ensure deals fund as expected
-
Support the Financial Centre teams, including the Underwriting team, Agribusiness & Small Business teams, and Commercial Banking team
-
Maintain current and relevant knowledge of industry trends (agricultural industry standards), accounting and regulatory practices
-
Prepare and maintain member-related files
-
Conduct searches, including credit bureaus, PPR, LTO, Companies Searches, and Court of Queen's Bench
-
Manage requests for security discharges
-
Provide relief for other positions within the department as required
Qualifications
Education and experience:
This position requires a diploma or degree in Business (Agribusiness), finance, accounting or a related field. Financial institution experience with a focus on Commercial and/or Agricultural banking is considered an asset. An equivalent combination of education and experience would be considered.
Key occupational skills:

Demonstrates initiative, strong organizational and time management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
-
Ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, as well as work independently with sound judgement

Analytical skills to notice and resolve errors, problems or numerical data inconsistencies
-
Ability to conduct preliminary financial analysis for credit applications, including analyzing customer files and assessing risk
-
Bilingualism, French and English, is considered an asset
