About The Role Myticas Consulting is seeking a Senior Network Architect with deep expertise in Segment Routing to support a major low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network program for a leading global satellite communications company.

In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert for all aspects of the LEO network design, with a primary focus on segment routing within large-scale carrier IP/MPLS environments. You will collaborate with internal LEO teams and external partners to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and highly available network architectures, while driving design decisions, validation plans, and documentation that underpin a next-generation global network.

You will work on cutting-edge technologies, define segment routing strategies and architectures, contribute to system and design reviews, and lead network assessments, optimization, and complex troubleshooting efforts. Responsibilities

• Design and implement segment routing solutions in large-scale carrier IP/MPLS networks, ensuring optimal utilization of network resources and improved traffic engineering
• Contribute to the overall LEO network architecture, identifying optimization opportunities using segment routing techniques such as traffic steering, BSIDs, and fast reroute mechanisms
• Represent the LEO Network Engineering team by documenting and delivering network requirements to hardware and software development teams, including customer-facing MEF 3.0 interfaces and data processing/networking design support
• Perform network assessments, troubleshooting, and complex incident resolution, collaborating with cross-functional LEO teams to minimize service disruptions
• Evaluate networking hardware, software, and solutions, work with vendors on product roadmaps and feature enhancements, and prepare technical documentation, test strategies, and presentations
• Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and contribute materials for internal and external design and system engineering reviews, including lab-based proof of concepts, service validation, and product demonstrations

Requirements

• Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, or within daily commuting distance to an on-site role
• 10+ years of experience in carrier network design, architecture, operation, and deployment
• At least 5 years of combined work and/or education experience in Canada in network architecture, network engineering, or closely related telecommunications roles
• Hands-on expertise designing and implementing segment routing solutions in large-scale IP/MPLS or carrier/service provider networks
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF or IS-IS, and MPLS in production environments
• Demonstrated experience leading network engineering initiatives and mentoring junior engineers in carrier or service provider organizations

Preferred Skills

• Understanding of Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) standards and Carrier Ethernet services
• Experience with network automation and scripting using tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar
• Professional certifications such as Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE, or equivalent
• Experience designing or reviewing network security architectures for large-scale carrier or service provider networks
• Strong troubleshooting skills, excellent communication and presentation abilities, and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams
