A Client Architect:
- Works with business leadership and subject matter experts, to build a holistic view of an organization's strategy, processes, information, and information technology assets to ensure that that the business and IT are in alignment
- Links the business to its IT strategy
- Shows how the current and future needs of an organization will be met in an efficient, sustainable and agile manner
- Operates across organizational and computing boundaries
- Provides the roadmaps and guidance necessary to direct and manage growth and provide services
Your future duties and responsibilities
As a Infrastructure Architect you are expected to meet with business leaders and technologists to develop infrastructure solutions
- Solve customer technical problems and objectives by creating innovative and strategic CGI infrastructure solutions
- Produce yearly technology plans for all their accounts including currency, performance, capacity, technical concerns and industry trends
- Create and update an HLA for every client supported
- Provide an “Automation Roadmap” and a “Go To Cloud” strategy for customers (can be included in technology plan)
- Provide quarterly revenue generating solicited and non-solicited proposals (i.e. CGI infrastructure proposals)
- Create and participate in weekly touchpoints with Business Leaders (Managers, Directors, VP’s, C-Level’s) and participate in weekly touchpoints with fellow technologists from other business units
- Advise the customer, delivery leaders and senior CGI leadership and take part in meetings involving customer and CGI executives
- Provide technical leadership and decision making direction to CGI infrastructure technical towers
- Provide technical (i.e. non project-management) leadership of projects which includes providing input and direction to multiple technical teams providing services to the customer
- Work in partnership with the CGI delivery leaders to enhance service delivery and technical leadership practices to the customer; this may include re-engineering processes when they do not sense or meet customer requirements.
- Provide technical leadership on non-routine major incidents and problem management investigations
- Provide technical information about the customer environment in a customer friendly format when required
- Be the primary contact for CGI infrastructure technical questions from management (can direct the questions to the appropriate source after review)
- Provide guidance to project teams and operations about best practice guidelines and procedures
- Provide leadership, strategy, technology ideas and tooling recommendations to the support teams
- Identify gaps in documentation or knowledge for CGI infrastructure towers supporting their customer and flag this to delivery leads
- Interact routinely, seek direction and exchange information with transformation team architecture team
- Remain abreast of industry security topics and considerations as well as our customer’s security needs.
- Keep on top of Industry trends and directions.
- Understand cloud migration strategies and process
- Acts as expert for infrastructure teams in the plan, design, and delivery of IT solutions.
- Advises teams of IT technology standard requirements, methodology and processes.
- Drives short & long term architecture strategy for the overall IT project portfolio for key business segments.
- Participates in proof of concepts to assist in defining technology direction and enabling business strategy.
- Communicates and validates program architecture with infrastructure team, project management team, and technology services management team.
- Conducts end-to-end technical plan design.
- Develops enterprise standards to ensure compatibility and integration of multi-vendor platforms.
- Design and develop infrastructure blueprints for the implementation of new solutions.
- Responsible for impact analysis and design modifications to existing systems to support new solutions.
- Develop specifications for interfaces from existing to new systems.
Client Architect – Documentation Inventory
- HLA – High Level Architecture. A document including diagrams and tables with verbiage describing a particular solution or project. A summary HLA should also exist for each and every customer. The “big picture.”
- Technology Plan – A review of a given customer’s environment with a view of what should be updated or changed over the next one to five years.
- Detailed Design – authored by the SMEs of each technical tower, this document is where all in depth technical details are recorded.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Required Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or 10 years direct experience in the field
Required Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in a production IT environment managing enterprise IT infrastructure, hardware, hosting service and network areas.
- Ability to write architectural design documents or review design documents provided by others.
- Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply trends to architectural needs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must have a thorough knowledge of the Windows and Linux concepts, Domains, Active Directory and its concepts, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data center, and application software.

Strong working knowledge of VMware or other hypervisor and (or) virtualization software.

Understanding of TCP, IP and other network protocols. Familiarity with DNS, DHCP and other network services.

Knowledge of Dell and Hitachi storage solutions

Knowledge fo Dell hardware platforms

Knowledge of Azure Stack Hub

Knowledge of Cisco, F5 and Palo Alto network technologies

Knowledge of Cloud technologies, migration strategies and cloud adoption framework

Knowledge of managing a data center in terms of systems monitoring, capacity planning and performance tuning

Knowledge of Dev Ops, Ansible, Terraform, SRE an added advantage
