This confidential search is for a Senior Development Accountant to join their Toronto-based Development Accounting team. The successful candidate will gain high visibility and autonomy, working directly with senior leadership on large, high-profile development projects that shape communities across Canada.

Your New Role

As Senior Development Accountant, you will take ownership of the full accounting cycle for a dedicated portfolio of active development projects, managing everything from cash calls and loan draws to month-end closes and regulatory filings. You will play a pivotal role in providing accurate reporting and analysis that guides executive decision-making and keeps projects on track. In this position, you will collaborate closely with Development Managers, Project Managers, joint-venture partners, and senior leadership to ensure that financial data is reliable, timely, and aligned with project milestones. This is a growth-oriented opportunity where your contributions will be recognized at the senior leadership level.

What Sets You Apart

You are a CPA-designated (or in-progress) accounting professional with four to five years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within real estate or development. You are confident in full-cycle accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, and you bring strong Excel skills, along with exposure to large ERP systems and experience with Power BI, which is considered an asset. What truly sets you apart is your critical thinking, attention to detail, and proactive approach. You thrive in a collaborative culture yet are comfortable working independently, prioritizing effectively in a fast-paced environment, and communicating clearly with senior stakeholders.
