ABOUT THE ROLE

The Concerts team is responsible for the distribution of royalties earned via live performances across Canada. You will be responsible for and assist in many aspects of that process. This includes researching concerts and venues, collecting setlists, analyzing data, and identifying songs so that the appropriate songwriters and publishers receive compensation, in a complete, accurate and timely manner.

WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Processing of concert setlists submitted in paper form
  • Processing of concert setlists submitted by foreign societies
  • Research of missing setlists Matching Concert usages to setlists
  • Conduct concert research (identify performers, venues, promoters, etc.)
  • Assist with work identification, including foreign artists’ catalogs
  • Assist with unidentified work research (this involves determining who the songwriters/publishers of the works are)
  • Assist with incoming Concert claims from SOCAN members
  • Prepare/setup concerts for distribution in our system
  • Add foreign music repertoire to SOCAN database

WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary education
  • Available to work 35 hours a week, May through August
  • Ability to manage workload effectively including planning, organizing, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) skills
  • Dynamic, energetic, and self-motivated
