As a Software Development Engineer you will have technical ownership of the development of critical parts of this system. You will create innovative employee listening technology at Amazon scale. You'll join a talented and nimble team of engineers and create ways to streamline delivery. Successful candidates will be strong SDEs who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery.

You will drive architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a scalable, employee listening product. We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect developers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product

In This Role You Will

  • Find out what it takes to engineer systems for "Amazon Scale"
  • Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry
  • Own and operate the systems that you build
  • Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, release, operations, and process improvement as a member of the team
  • Get firsthand experience engineering with AWS services such as Glue, Athena, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB and others

We offer opportunities for builders to build and make history!

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive technical architecture decisions and system design, focusing on scalability, reliability, and performance of distributed services
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technical solutions, including design, implementation, and verification using standard software engineering methodologies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, conduct design reviews, and ensure successful delivery of solutions

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to improving team practices and standards

A day in the life

Your typical day involves architecting and building robust solutions that power critical business initiatives. You'll participate in technical design discussions, write and review code, and optimize existing solutions for performance and reliability. You'll dive deep into production issues, implement solutions that enhance system stability, and build new capabilities into our platforms. Cross-team collaboration is key, as you'll work closely with various teams to maintain system requirements and optimize workflows.

Work/Life Balance: We value work-life harmony and offer flexibility in working hours. While the position involves on-call responsibilities (typically one week every two months), we work to ensure our systems are fault tolerant and continuously improve our infrastructure to minimize disruptions.

About Amazon

Software Development
10,000+

Amazon is guided by four principles: customer obsession rather than competitor focus, passion for invention, commitment to operational excellence, and long-term thinking. We are driven by the excitement of building technologies, inventing products, and providing services that change lives. We embrace new ways of doing things, make decisions quickly, and are not afraid to fail. We have the scope and capabilities of a large company, and the spirit and heart of a small one.

Together, Amazonians research and develop new technologies from Amazon Web Services to Alexa on behalf of our customers: shoppers, sellers, content creators, and developers around the world.

Our mission is to be Earth's most customer-centric company. Our actions, goals, projects, programs, and inventions begin and end with the customer top of mind.

You'll also hear us say that at Amazon, it's always "Day 1." What do we mean? That our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon's very first day - to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and focus on delighting our customers.
