About the role
We are seeking a Sterling File Gateway Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise-level file transfer solutions. This role requires expertise in IBM Sterling File Gateway, Connect: Direct, Control Center, and secure data transmission protocols. You will be responsible for configuring, monitoring, and optimizing Sterling environments, ensuring secure and compliant file exchanges across business and partner ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support solutions using IBM Sterling File Gateway (SFG) and Connect: Direct.
- Configure routing rules, codelists, and protocols (SFTP, MQ, API, HTTP/S, AS2, Connect: Direct).
- Lead partner onboarding, including certificate and key management.
- Troubleshoot and resolve file transfer issues in a timely manner.
- Perform system maintenance, upgrades, and patching of Sterling environments.
- Collaborate with business units and external trading partners to implement file transfer requirements.
- Document processes, technical designs, and system changes.
- Ensure compliance with security and audit standards.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior developers and support teams.
Technical Profile
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Sterling File Gateway, Connect: Direct, and Control Center.
- Strong understanding of codelists and SFG routing rules.
- Experience with secure transfer protocols: SFTP, MQ, HTTP/S, AS2, Connect: Direct.
- File encryption/decryption and secure data transmission expertise.
- Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools (IBM Control Center).
- Cloud-based deployment experience (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Familiarity with IBM Sterling Secure Proxy or similar tools (preferred).
- Exposure to DevOps tools for CI/CD in integration environments (preferred).

- Works cross-functionally with IT and business teams to meet partner and enterprise integration needs.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to ensure reliable file transfer operations.
- Detail-oriented with ability to document designs and maintain audit compliance.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $49.83/hour - $77.86/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits.
