About the role
Summary
Reporting to the Mine Access & Services Supervisor, the Heavy Equipment Operator will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of equipment. In addition to properly operating the equipment, you will also be responsible for inspecting, providing preventative maintenance checks, and occasionally repairing equipment when required.
Responsibilities
- Operate various pieces of large equipment (loaders, excavator, grader, hook truck, dump truck etc.) in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations
- Ensure proper operation of equipment by performing regular checks on their functionality o Document regular maintenance checks to maintain adequate records of equipment performance Provide preventative maintenance checks to ensure equipment is safe and operating properly Regularly clean equipment to preserve its quality and functionality
- Perform minor repairs on equipment issues o Report needs for larger repairs to the appropriate parties
- Commit to the overall safety of the work environment by always taking extra precautions to work with the utmost care and consideration
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of experience working with heavy equipment
- Possession of a commercial driver’s license, Class 3 minimum
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of proper operation of heavy equipment as well as safety standards o
- Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair pieces of heavy equipment o
- Strong work ethic and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds
- Details and results-oriented with the ability to multi-task, and adhere to deadlines,
- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.
Working Conditions

Work involves a camp-based role at the Mount Milligan Mine site with a set work schedule on a 7/7 work schedule, 12 hours per day.

Work consists of moderate degree of social interaction with employees in person
-
Regular exposure to working indoors and outdoors, continuous noise, working around machinery with moving parts, around heavy equipment and in close proximity to others

Occasional exposure to hazardous environments with the requirement of wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
