Commissionaires Ottawa is currently seeking to fill a Materials & Inventory Technician position within our Corporate Services team, based at our Ottawa headquarters.
This is an on-site role, supporting the day-to-day management of uniforms, equipment, and supplies used by our operational personnel.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the receipt, storage, tracking, and distribution of materials, ensuring accurate inventory records, organized stockroom operations, and timely service to employees and internal stakeholders.
This position plays a key role in supporting daily operations by issuing and fitting uniforms, coordinating shipments, maintaining inventory systems, and ensuring materials are handled in accordance with established procedures.
What you will be doing…
- Maintain accurate inventory records, including stock levels, receipts, adjustments, and reconciliations
- Receive and inspect incoming materials, verifying quantities and quality against purchase orders
- Investigate discrepancies and support resolution in accordance with established procedures
- Organize and store inventory to ensure accessibility, control, and efficiency
- Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in full inventory counts
- Issue, fit, and exchange uniforms and equipment in line with entitlement policies
- Process returns, damaged items, and write-offs
- Coordinate packaging and shipping of uniforms and supplies, including remote locations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure stockroom environment
- Provide front-line service by responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and by email
- Support onboarding by issuing required uniforms and equipment to new personnel
- Coordinate with vendors for alterations, repairs, cleaning, and supply services
- Assist with purchasing, replenishment, and general logistical support activities

Candidates with Canadian Armed Forces experience in logistics, supply, or equipment management will be given priority consideration.

- Have experience in inventory, warehousing, logistics, or materials handling
- Are comfortable working in structured, process-driven environments
- Balance hands-on work with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Deliver professional, responsive client service
- Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively with frontline staff, vendors, and internal teams
- Demonstrate initiative to investigate and resolve issues independently
Your must-haves:
- Have experience in inventory, warehousing, logistics, or materials handling
- Are comfortable working in structured, process-driven environments
- Balance hands-on work with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Are able to regularly lift and carry boxes up to 50lb
- Deliver professional, responsive client service
- Can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Communicate effectively with frontline staff, vendors, and internal teams
Assets:
- Bilingualism (English and French)
- Experience with uniform fitting, measurement, or specialized equipment issuance
- Familiarity with vendor coordination (e.g., tailoring, cleaning services)
- Knowledge of inventory control and procurement processes
