This role sits within Laurentian Bank.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Model Validation, the incumbent performs model validation analysis for credit. In this role, you will validate the Bank's models for all types of risk (credit, interest rate, liquidity and market risk, money laundering, etc). This involves conceptual validation (mathematical and statistical models), all operational processes, and model performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Perform model validation (conceptual, implementation and performance monitoring) models for quantifying and rating credit risk and other types of risk, based on the model's risk level.
  • Establish an independent and compliant model validation process.
  • Establish and maintain an inventory of all the bank's related models
  • Prepare a validation plan identifying the models that will be subject to validation over the subsequent year.
  • Assess and classify the risk presented by each model together with the modelling team.
  • Follow up with the modelling team regarding action plans.
  • Ensure the integration of quality controls inherent to the end-to-end implementation process.
  • Provide value-added advice to model development teams to improve model performance.
  • Implement validation and performance monitoring standards in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Participate in regular updating of risk modelling management framework documents (policy, directives, procedures).

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field (finance, mathematics, statistics, etc.) and two to four years of experience in risk modelling management

  • Or an undergraduate degree in a relevant field and four to six years of experience in risk modelling management

  • Mastery of the validation or development of models

  • Good understanding and interpretation of regulatory requirements

  • Experience using modelling tools (SAS, Matlab, or equivalent)

  • Ability to summarize complex information to ensure efficient communication

  • Outstanding ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines

  • Ability to work in a constantly changing environment

  • Bilingual* (spoken/written) French and English“

  • Professional working proficiency in French and English languages required as position involves frequent written and oral communication on complex matters with internal and external parties in both languages.
