Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging and Medical Diagnostic Unit, the PACS Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • monitoring and maintaining the current Hospital Information Systems, Radiology Information Systems, Community Wide Scheduling System, Communication System, Statistics, Billing, MIS and maintenance of a Picture Archival and Communications System (PACS) for cardiology and diagnostic imaging.
  • Provide PACs applications support for managing imaging workflows, auto-routing, training and system support to hospital personnel, trouble shoot hardware and software problems and acts as a department resource for all systems related items.
  • Ensure seamless data management through integration with HIS
  • Work with the radiologists to develop hanging protocols that streamline the reporting process
  • Monitor PACS performance to minimize downtime
  • Maintain inventory of PACS equipment including contracts, service history, and capacity planning
  • Install, configure, test, and otherwise maintain PACS hardware and software to ensure reliability and smooth operation
  • Ensure PACS compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including privacy and data retention legislation (ex. Personal Health Information Protection Act)
  • Demonstrated computer experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Project
  • Actively participate in the development of operating procedures and policies that will optimize PACS performance.
  • Participate in new digital informatics initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Medication Radiation Imaging Technologist (MRIT) or Sonographer or Degree in Information Technology is required
  • PACS Administrator or PACS System Analyst Certification (e.g. PARCA, CIIP or CPSA) required
  • Imaging Informatics Certification (CIIP) is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset
  • 5 years of recent PACS/RIS related experience in Diagnostic Imaging including PACS/RIS/HIS management, implementation, modality integration, third party software integration and management experience with Computer Systems databases
  • Demonstrated computer experience in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project
  • Sound knowledge of computer operating systems (e.g. Windows), database (e.g. SQL, NPR reports), DICOM and HL7 standards
  • Working knowledge of Meditech System operations with experience in ITS, OE, CWS and ADT, dictation software
  • Proven knowledge of OH WTIS, DI-r, Clinical Connect, EPICetc.
  • Knowledge of interfaces and networking
  • Working knowledge of voice recognition & dictation systems
  • Knowledge of MIS guidelines
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Services operations, staff and patient processes
  • Strong organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to prioritize in a fast paced environment with competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates critical- thinking and decision-making skill
  • Demonstrated effective documentation skills
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
