Become a Camrose Fire & Rescue Paid On-Call Volunteer Firefighter
The City of Camrose Fire Department is seeking dedicated, reliable individuals to join our team as Paid On-Call
Volunteer Firefighters. Firefighters are responsible for protecting the public from the dangers of fire and other hazards.
They control and extinguish fires, respond to medical calls, vehicle extrications, maintain equipment and practice fire
prevention.
FUNCTIONS/DUTIES (but not limited to):

Respond promptly to emergency calls, including fires, medical emergencies, and rescues.

Operate firefighting equipment and tools safely and efficiently.

Perform fire suppression activities including hose line operations, ventilation, and salvage.
-
Conduct search and rescue operations as needed.
-
Provide medical assistance and support until advanced medical personnel arrive.
-
Participate in training sessions and drills to maintain skills and stay updated on firefighting techniques and
protocols.
-
Maintain and clean firefighting equipment an apparatus.
-
Assist with community outreach programs and fire education initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Must be 18 years of age and a Canadian Citizen or a legal permanent resident.

Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
-
Grade 12 Diploma or GED equivalent.
-
Physical fitness with the ability to pass a medical examination acceptable for the position of Firefighter.
-
Standard first aid and CPR-Level C.
-
Have a strong desire to serve the community and strong work ethic.
-
Must reside within a 6-kilometer radius of the Camrose Fire station.
-
Successful candidates will be required to produce a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract and Police Information
Check.
HOURS OF WORK: Hours of work for this position will vary depending on emergencies, and can include daytime,
evening, night, and/or weekends, with the expectation to attend Tuesday night training sessions from 7:00 p.m. to
9:00 p.m.
