The salary range for this position is:

  • Recruitment range: $72,044 - $89,923 maximum starting salary is determined through knowledge, experience and internal equity.
  • Performance range: $103,334 salary range ceiling is available through annual performance increases.

Salary for this position will be pro-rated for 0.5 FTE.

Job Summary

Budget & Capital Planning is responsible for the development and management of the university-annual operating budget. The budget office is responsible for forecasting and developing recommendations for the budget framework model for executive and integrated planning group. The office prepares, coordinates and manages the day-to-day operations of the university budget, providing guidance and information on budget issues to a wide variety of stakeholders. The budget office provides key functions for ongoing financial related activities including budget monitoring, analysis, costings for collective bargaining, total compensation information, internal and external reporting and forecasting. The office oversees procedures and processes that govern operating budget management, and is the steward of the university’s budget system (FAST Budget).

Mandate:
Reporting to the Manager of Budget Systems and Projects, the Budget Project Analyst provides comprehensive project support for departmental priorities.
The position deals with sensitive and confidential information and at all times the incumbent must demonstrate discretion, independent judgment and high professional standards, operating under strict timelines requiring constant adjustment of priorities and balancing of workload

Objective:
This position will be mainly focused on client relations, change management, process improvements, systems development, training course development and making training material improvements. The Budget Project Analyst is responsible for working with our client groups on reviewing current processes, obtaining feedback and proposing and implementing changes. This position will also be a supporting role for budget systems development as it relates to process improvements. This role will be responsible for assisting in all areas of project administration which is not limited to updating documentation, website development, training course modifications, attending meetings and taking minutes, coordinating meetings and space bookings, liaising with departments, maintaining records.

Job Requirements

A post-secondary degree plus equivalent experience and/or a combination of post-secondary education and related experience required. A minimum of two (2) years of experience using similar skill sets, preferably in a post-secondary or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Advanced proficiency MS-Office Suite, specifically Excel
  • An aptitude in one of the following;
    • systems development, or
    • systems administration, or
    • relational database management, or
    • SQL language
  • Strong communication skills including editing documents, preparing training material, developing surveys and communicating with clients
  • Familiarity with basic accounting procedures and financial reporting
  • Experience working within a project environment
  • Knowledge of Brightspace or similar course development platforms
  • Knowledge of cascade or similar website development platforms

Working conditions: This position, will at times, have tight timelines and encounter stressful situations. This position will have involvement in change management which can be met with hesitation or opposition.
