About the role
Security Platform Engineer III – Security Automation Location: Toronto, ON Work Arrangement: Hybrid (1 day/week in office – Wednesdays) Contract Duration: ASAP – December 31, 2026 (with possible extension) Rate: $70–$83/hour (based on experience) About the Opportunity We are looking for an experienced Security Platform Engineer with a strong background in security automation, Splunk SOAR, and Python development. This role will focus on designing and implementing automated security workflows, improving operational efficiency, and supporting enterprise-level cybersecurity initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams to build scalable automation solutions while supporting the deployment and maintenance of modern security technologies. Key Responsibilities Design and develop security automation playbooks using Splunk SOAR and Python Build automated workflows within Ansible Automation Platform using YAML Troubleshoot and resolve issues within automation environments Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and refine automation requirements Support enterprise cybersecurity initiatives by implementing new security technologies and controls Deploy, maintain, and optimize security platforms and automation capabilities Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and provide support during major incidents Create and maintain technical documentation, security playbooks, and operational procedures Assist with knowledge transfer and operational readiness for newly implemented solutions Continuously improve automation processes and security operations Required Qualifications 2–3+ years of hands-on experience with Splunk SOAR (required) 2–3+ years of Python development experience Experience developing automation using Ansible and YAML 5+ years of experience in Information Technology or Cybersecurity Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or equivalent experience Experience supporting enterprise security environments Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience with enterprise security automation platforms Knowledge of: Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR) SIEM platforms and log management Certificate management Email security Cloud security Web security technologies Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS) Firewalls and Web Application Firewalls (WAF) Experience administering Windows and Linux environments Familiarity with networking concepts and cloud technologies Experience delivering enterprise technology implementations Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC, AWS Security, or CompTIA Security+ are considered an asset Additional Information Hybrid work model (minimum one day per week in office) Opportunity to work on enterprise-scale security automation and cybersecurity transformation initiatives If you have strong expertise in Splunk SOAR, Python, and security automation, we'd love to hear from you.
