POSITION Software Engineer
LOCATION Edmonton, Alberta or Remote
YOUR OPPORTUNITY The ideal candidate is a strong full stack Software Engineer who is comfortable working across the entire application stack, from modern frontends to maintainable backend APIs. They are driven to build sophisticated solutions such as LLM-powered document extraction systems and deterministic underwriting applications for operational users. KV Capital has experienced rapid growth in recent years and is expected to continue expanding, creating significant opportunities to professionalize and scale our internal software suite. This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives on improving productivity through technology.
The successful candidate will be an experienced full stack Software Engineer, strong communicator, problem solver, and collaborative team player who can contribute to KV Capital's growth-oriented agenda.
YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In this role, your key responsibilities will encompass: Full Stack Development: Designing, developing, and enhancing end-to-end software solutions, building complete toolsets from the user interface to core backend logic. Frontend Architecture: Building responsive, modern, and dynamic user interfaces using frameworks like React.js and Next.js, ensuring a seamless and intuitive experience for business users. Backend API Development: Developing, maintaining, and securing robust RESTful APIs using both TypeScript (Node.js) and C#/.NET, ensuring scalability and performance. Business Logic Automation: Implementing complex business automation capabilities, such as document extraction workflow systems powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), and advanced internal underwriting applications. Architecture & Deployment: Working within a cloud-native environment hosted on Microsoft Azure, utilizing best practices for Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and CI/CD deployment via Azure DevOps. Stakeholder Collaboration: Partnering closely with various business unit stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), functional consultants, business analysts, and other engineers to understand pain points and translate them into scalable solutions. Optimization: Focusing on building highly productive tools that increase human-computer interaction efficiency across the firm.
YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS To excel in this role, you must possess: Proficiency in React.js and Next.js or similar frameworks and TypeScript/JavaScript for building modern frontend applications. Experience with Azure services such as Azure Container Apps (ACA), Azure Static Web Apps, Azure Functions, and Azure SQL Database or equivalent tech stack. Proficiency in C#, .NET, and RESTful API design. Knowledge of ALM, CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, and git. Ability to integrate with diverse data sources, third-party APIs, and modern services (e.g., AI/ML endpoints). Deep understanding of writing code that is maintainable, testable, and scalable in a cloud-native context.
NICE TO HAVE, NOT REQUIRED Additional experience in any of the following areas would be beneficial, but is not required: Familiarity with Docker and containerization for consistent deployment environments. Experience with state management libraries like Redux and UI frameworks like Fluent UI. Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform integrations using Web APIs. Understanding of Microsoft Dataverse tables, relationships, and advanced data modeling. Experience with design systems like Tailwind CSS. Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines for managing, automating, and monitoring deployment processes across development, staging, and production environments.
