About the role
We are looking for an experienced HRIS Specialist to join our HR team. This role is a critical bridge between HR and IT, ensuring our systems effectively support efficient, accurate, and scalable HR operations. Reporting to the Vice President – HR, this role owns HR process documentation, translates HR requirements into end-to-end system solutions, coordinates testing for upgrades and changes, manages defects and impacts, and builds HR capability through training and support.
As the HRIS Specialist, you will act as the business analyst and systems expert for HR—translating business needs into system solutions, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle.
What You’ll Do
Business Analysis & Solution Design
- Partner with HR leaders to understand business needs and translate them into system solutions.
- Develop business requirements, process maps, use cases, and functional specifications. Collaborate with IT and vendors to design scalable, end-to-end HR solutions.
HR Process Ownership
- Own and maintain documentation for core HR processes and workflows.
- Identify and action opportunities to standardize, simplify, and automate processes. Ensure documentation reflects current system design and practices.
System Management & Optimization
- Support and enhance Oracle HCM modules.
- Monitor system performance, issues, and recommend and action process and configuration improvements to improve efficiency, compliance, usability, and data quality. Ensure data integrity and consistent HR system functionality.
Testing & Change Management
- Develop and action test strategies, scripts, scenarios, and UAT plans for upgrades, releases, and enhancements.
- Lead or coordinate regression testing and user acceptance testing for Oracle HCM changes.
- Track defects and partner with IT/vendors to actively resolve issues Assess the impact of patches, upgrades, and releases on HR processes, controls, data, and user experience.
Training & Enablement
- Develop user guides, job aids, and training materials
- Train HR users on system functionality and best practices Drive adoption of new processes and system enhancements
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with HR leaders, subject matter experts, IT, and vendors.
- Translating technical concepts into user-friendly language Ensure change impacts are identified, communicated, and managed appropriately.
What You Bring
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in HR, Business, Information Systems, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in HRIS, HR operations, or business analysis
- Hands-on experience with Oracle HCM (preferred), must have HRIS experience in a cloud environment.
- Experience documenting business processes, gathering requirements, and supporting system implementations and enhancements. Experience with testing methodology & training users with strong understanding of core HR processes across the employee lifecycle.
